Get A New Roof For Your Home

7 Signs That You Need A Roof Replacement

gray house

Unsure if it’s time for a roof replacement? Here are seven clear signs that suggest you might need a new roof:

1) Age of the Roof

Most roofs are built to last around 20 to 25 years. If your roof is nearing this age or older, it’s a good idea to think about replacing it, even if it looks fine. Routine inspections can help catch potential problems before they escalate, keeping your home safe.

2) Curling or Buckling Shingles

Take a close look at the slopes of your roof. If you notice any curling or buckling shingles, it’s a sign that they may have reached the end of their useful life. Regular inspections can help you identify these issues early on, preventing potential leaks and costly repairs down the line. Keeping an eye on your roof’s condition is crucial for maintaining the overall health of your home.

3) Missing Shingles

Missing shingles can expose your roof to water damage. Promptly fixing any areas with missing shingles is crucial for safeguarding your home against leaks and expensive repairs. Routine maintenance can help extend the life of your roof.

4) Granules in the Gutters

Inspect your gutters for granules. As roofs age, they tend to shed more granules, which are crucial for their protective function. Accumulating granules in your gutters can indicate that your roof is losing its ability to shield your home effectively from the elements. Regularly checking for these granules can help you assess the condition of your roof and determine if it needs maintenance or replacement to ensure continued protection for your home.

5) Daylight Through Roof Boards

Seeing daylight streaming through the roof boards in your attic signals a serious problem that needs immediate attention. This may indicate possible leaks or structural damage that, if ignored, could result in more severe issues later on. It’s essential to identify the source of the light and make necessary repairs to protect your home’s integrity.

6) Sagging Roof Deck

A sagging roof deck is often an indicator of potential structural damage that should not be ignored. If your roof appears droopy or uneven, it’s essential to seek a professional evaluation to assess the situation and ensure the safety and integrity of your home.

7) Water Damage or Leaks

Persistent leaks or water damage signs on ceilings or walls suggest your roof may no longer be watertight.

Recognizing these signs early can help prevent further damage and costly repairs. If you notice any of these issues, contact Veterans Contracting for a thorough roof inspection and replacement consultation.

We do. We partner with Sunlight Financial to offer affordable financing rates, flexible payment plans, and low interest rates to our customers.

Does Veterans Contracting offer insurance claim assistance?

While it is ultimately your responsibility to work with your insurance company and have an adjuster visit your property, we are happy to answer the questions we can (law permitting) and will be available to complete your job as soon as your claim is complete.

Should I repair or replace my roof?

There are several factors to consider that can help you choose between a repair and a full replacement. We’ll look at the extent of damage, roof material condition, and your roof’s age. If the damage is minor, repairing your roof could be the way to go. However, for severe damage like major hail, wind, or water damage, or if your roof is past its lifespan, it might be time for a full replacement.” Your last sentence is great! The decision between the two is a big one – we would love to come by,  inspect the situation, and give you an accurate assessment so you can make an informed decision.

What materials do you work with?

We work with Owens Corning shingles, Firestone TPO, James Hardie fiber cement siding, and EPDM materials.
